York

The York House presented a unique challenge and opportunity for Cowdin Design + Build. The original structure was a small, outdated home, but the vision for the property was much larger. We began by demolishing the existing house and set out to design and build a custom home in Plymouth that made the most of the small footprint, utilizing vertical space to create a more open and spacious living environment.

One standout feature of the York House is the dramatic two-story, floor-to-ceiling shiplap fireplace, which serves as a focal point in the main living area. This home features high-end finishes throughout, including premium cabinetry, luxurious quartz countertops, and high-end appliances in the kitchen. We included a walk-in pantry to enhance functionality, providing additional storage and organization.

Outdoor living was a key consideration in this project, and we created a covered patio that includes a two-sided fireplace and a second-floor balcony, making it perfect for entertaining or relaxing during all seasons. As a special touch, we preserved a portion of the original home’s flooring and repurposed it as a ceiling feature, adding character and a connection to the property’s history.

The York house is a prime example of how thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship can transform a small space into a luxurious and functional home. By building upwards and focusing on key architectural elements, we were able to create a custom home in Plymouth that feels expansive while fitting seamlessly into its surroundings.
